I’m Bharath. I walk, take photographs and write.
Some of this becomes long-form work. The rest ends up in the notebook — loose photographs, stray thoughts, things I’m reading or listening to.
I also maintain IRFCA with a small group of volunteers. It’s the largest site devoted to Indian Railways enthusiasts. My railway travel writing is collected in Trackside, available on Amazon.
When I’m not photographing or writing, I’m probably listening to jazz or blues or reading something slowly I care about typography more than is reasonable.
I very occasionally take on freelance photography, writing and editing assignments. Get in touch.
Colophon
This site is built with Hugo, a static site generator. The design is my own — minimal, built to get out of the way of the photographs and words.
Typography
Headlines are set in Neue Haas Grotesk Display, body text in Neue Haas Grotesk Text. Both served via Adobe Fonts. I spend too much time thinking about type. The Neue Haas Grotesk family felt right; it has the modernist clarity I wanted without being cold.
Tools
I write in BBEdit and manage all my photography in Lightroom. The site’s CSS is hand-written; there’s no framework underneath.
Photography
I photograph using a variety of cameras, with the most used being an iPhone (currently an iPhone 17). I also heavily use a Fujifilm X-T5, X-T20 with a variety of prime lenses. I have a hard time choosing between 35mm and 50mm. I also have a Zenit-E and Yashica D TLR which are very occasionally used.
